How to Register a Gun in Panama

Weapons permit are carried out through the Ministry of Public Security, through the DIASP offices, its requirements are Article 38. For the issuance of a firearm possession certificate, the interested party must meet the following requirements:

1. Have reached 18 years of age.
2. Provide the DIASP with the firearm and three ammunition to carry out the ballistics test.
3. Complete the form that the DIASP will provide for this purpose.
4. Provide a simple copy of the personal identity card, with presentation of the card for comparison.
5. Submit the invoice for the purchase of the firearm, if it is a new weapon, or the transfer form, if it is a used weapon.
6. Provide three passport size photographs.
7. Submit certification issued, valid for six months, by a qualified psychiatrist or psychologist, stating that he or she enjoys mental and emotional stability.
8. Provide a certificate from a suitable clinical laboratory, issued with a validity of three months, stating that they underwent an anti-doping test, the negative results of which prove that they have not consumed prohibited drugs.
9. Accredit through a certification issued by a public or private institution, duly authorized by the DIASP, that he satisfactorily passed the shooting test. The methodology of this exam will be determined by the DIASP and carried out with the best technology available in the market.
10. Provide a criminal record certificate.
11. Present the consignment certificate issued by the National Bank of Panama, accrediting the payment of the corresponding rights.

Para el permiso de armas, se realiza a través del Ministeriode seguridad pública, a través delas oficinas del DIASP sus requisitos son Artículo 38.  Para la expedición de uncertificado de tenencia de arma de fuego, el interesado deberá cumplir los siguientes requisitos:

1. Haber cumplido dieciocho años de edad.
2. Proporcionar a la DIASP el arma de fuego y tresmuniciones para realizar la prueba de balística.
3. Completar el formulario que para tal fin proporcionará la DIASP.
4. Aportar copia simple de la cédula de identidad personal,con presentación de la cédula para cotejo.
5. Presentar la factura de compra del arma de fuego, si setrata de un arma nueva, o el formulario de traspaso, si se trata de un arma usada.  
6. Aportar tres fotografías tamaño carné.
7. Presentar certificación expedida, con vigencia de seismeses, por psiquiatra o psicólogo idóneo, en la que conste que goza de estabilidad mental yemocional.
8. Aportar certificación de laboratorio clínico idóneo,expedida con vigencia de tres meses, en la que conste que se sometió a una prueba antidopingcuyos resultados negativos prueban que no ha consumido drogas prohibidas.
9. Acreditar mediante certificación expedida por instituciónpública o privada, debidamente autorizada por la DIASP, que aprobó satisfactoriamente elexamen de tiro. La metodología de este examen será determinada por la DIASP yrealizada con la mejor tecnología disponible en el mercado.
10. Aportar certificado de antecedentes penales.
11. Presentar el certificado de consignación expedido por elBanco Nacional de Panamá, acreditando el pago de los derechos correspondientes.
