Foreigner Hired by the Panama Canal Authority

At LEGAL@work, we understand that navigating the legal process of obtaining a Temporary Resident Permit as an employee of a company under contract with the Panama Canal Authority (Autoridad del Canal de Panamá) / ACP can be overwhelming. To begin, you will need to provide a Power of Attorney and Application through a lawyer. Additionally, you will need to provide:

• A copy of your passport that has been verified by a Notary
• A health certificate
• One check for B/.250 to the National Treasury for the migratory category
• One check for B/.800 to the National Migration Service for repatriation deposit

You will also need to submit a sworn statement of personal background, three passport-sized photographs, a certification from the ACP confirming the existence of the contract with the contracting company and that the foreigner will be providing services to that company, and a letter of responsibility from the employer specifying the position held, salary, and that the employee will be exclusively working to execute the contract awarded to the employer by the ACP.

Additionally, you will need to provide a work permit.

If you have dependents, you will also need to provide a certificate of relationship, a certificate of study for dependents between the ages of 18 and 25, and a letter of responsibility.
