The first step in applying for an extension or a change ofmigration category is to register the passport affiliation. This is followed bythe submission of the visa extensionor change application, along with a notarized copy of the passport with a minimumvalidity of three months. Additionally, a copy of the current electronic ticketpayment, hotel reservation (if applicable), and original or notarized copy of autility bill, such as water, light or phone, are also required.
To justify the reasons for the extension or change, a simplenote explaining the reasons for the extension or change and a notarized letterin which the applicant takes responsibility for their expenses (if applicable)must be submitted. Financial solvency for the duration of the stay in thecountry, which must be a minimum of five hundred balboas (B/.500.00), must alsobe proven through documents such as a certified check from the bank manager orbank transfer in the applicant's name, a traveler's check in the applicant'sname, a bank certification with the account statement reflecting availablebalances, a credit card statement with available balance, or any other documentthat proves the applicant's income.
A notarized sworn statement must also be submitted, which must be made before a notary with the presence of both parties, issued on notarial or written sheet. If this is the case, it can be done by: a temporary resident, permanent resident or Panamanian citizen.
