If you're an Italian citizen looking to establish permanent residency in Panama, you may be eligible for a special permit known as the Permanent Resident Permit for Special Laws: Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between the Republic of Panama and the Republic of Italy (PRP-CPI). This permit is only available to Italian citizens, and it allows you to reside in Panama indefinitely.
To apply for this permit, you'll need to meet the requirements outlined in Article 28 of the Decree Law and provide the following documents:
1. Power of attorney (notarized)and application form
2. Three (3) photographs
3. A copy of your passport(notarized or authenticated)
4. Criminal background check
5. Health certificate
6. A certified check for B/.250.00made out to the National Treasury
7. A sworn statement of personal background
8. A document showing your purpose for establishing residency in Panama, such as:
· Certificate of paid and released shares and nominative shares
· Employment contract endorsed by the Ministry of Labor with salary no lower than 850.00
· Public registry of the company in any of the cases
9. Proof of sufficient economic solvency, which can be demonstrated through a bank certification or account statement of the last month that reflects a balance of at least four digits average (stamped by the bank)
10. If you have dependents, they will need to provide:
· A notarized letter of responsibility and repatriation
· Proof of relationship
· Proof of address
· If over 18 years of age, a certificate of single status and certified studies
