Foreign personnel hired as an expert or technician within 15% of the regular staff

This permit is valid for a period of two years, and after this period, the individual has the option to apply for permanent residency. To qualify for this permit, the individual must be contracted by a company as an expert or technician, earning a minimum salary of B/.850.00 per month.

The process of obtaining this permit includes several requirements, such as:

  • Power of Attorney
  • Application (notarized and with the respective fiscal stamps)
  • Three photographs
  • Copy of your passport that has been verified by a notary or corresponding authority
  • Criminal Background Certificate or a sworn statement before a notary,
  • Health Certificate,
  • Certified Check for B/.250.00 in favor of the National Treasury,
  • Certified check of B/.800.00 in favor of the National Migration Service,
  • Personal Background Declaration Form,
  • Contract of employment that has been endorsed by the Ministry of Labor
  • Letter of employment on company letterhead signed by the legal representative of the company
  • Proof of operation of the company
  • Simple copy of the company's certificate of validity issued by the Public Registry
  • A work permit
  • Proof of affiliation with the Social Security Fund
  • A copy of the ID, and a National Income Tax clearance for the company

In case the applicant has dependents, additional requirements such as a letter of responsibility, a proof of relationship, a proof of address, and a certificate of single status and certified education for those over 18 are needed.

After the two-year period of the Provisional Permanent Residency Permit, the individual can apply for Permanent Residency of Foreign Personnel Hired as Experts or Technicians within 15% of the Specialized Staff (PRP-TEC).The requirements for this application are similar to the Provisional Permanent Residency Permit, except for the criminal record certificate, proof of affiliation with the Social Security Fund, and the certified checks.
