As authorities, ministers, rabbis, pastors, leaders or religious of other religious denominations or associations

The Provisional Resident Permit in the Quality of Authorities, Ministers, Rabbis, Pastors, Leaders or Religious Members of Other Denominations or Religious Associations (PPT-AR) is for foreigners who belong to churches, missions or religious communities that are properly recognized by the Ministry of Government and Justice and registered with the Public Register of Panama. This permit is valid for a period of two years, after which you can opt for permanent residency.

The requirements for this permit include a:

  • Power of Attorney
  • Application (notarized and with the respective fiscal stamps)
  • Three photographs
  • Copy of your passport that has been verified by a notary or corresponding authority
  • Criminal Background Certificate or a sworn statement before a notary,
  • Health Certificate,
  • Certified Check for B/.250.00 in favor of the National Treasury,
  • Personal Background Declaration Form,
  • Letter from the church, mission or religious association that states the hierarchical structure of the church or association and designates you for the national territory, specifying your mission and the number of churches or missions established in Panama,
  • Letter of responsibility from the mission representative in Panama that states the services provided, the place where you will perform your functions, the time you will stay in the country, the resources you will have to subsist, the frequency and amount of resources received,
  • Title or study that accredits you
  • if applicable, a copy of the statutes of the religious organization or entity, indicating the religious promotion plan to be executed in the church or mission,
  • Certificate of legal personality issued by the Public Register, which shows that the church or mission is properly registered in our country and the name of the legal representative,
  • Declaration of income or a CSS form, if you receive income from a Panamanian source
  • Copy of the personal identification card issued by the church or religious group you belong to.
